If you’re an installer interested in becoming MCS certified for heat pumps, you could get a grant covering 75% of your certification fees, up to £1,000. Check if you’re eligible and request the application form.

What is the MCS Certification Fund?

The MCS Certification Fund is a Scottish Government grant that helps installers working towards MCS certification for heat pumps.

It covers 75% of certification fees, up to £1,000, to help installers become MCS certified.

The fund is available until March 2027 or until funds run out.

You can’t apply if you’re already MCS certified for heat pumps.

Who can apply

To apply for the MCS Certification Fund, you must:

  • Be a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) under the European Commission Recommendation 2003/361/EC (fewer than 250 full-time employees and turnover up to £42 million and/or balance sheet total up to £36 million).
  • Have at least one registered office in Scotland.
  • Carry out heating installations in Scotland.
  • Not already be MCS certified for any heat pump technology.
